Havana (AFP) - Colombia's FARC guerrillas will not give up their weapons at once, and need guarantees from the government to disarm, a negotiator said Tuesday as the peace process marked two years.

Curtains closed of this Round of Talks in Havana, full of events that have fueled the fire of hope for reconciliation in the country.
We refer to the transcendental meeting on the 16th of August, in which the delegations of the government and the FARC listened with deep respect to the first group of victims of the conflict in the Protocol Building in Havana. It was an unprecedented event, in which the protagonists, supported by their own pain, generously opened their hearts to the most beautiful desire for peace.
The FARC-EP and the national government have been at peace talks for one year and a half in Havana, Cuba, to seek a political solution to the long conflict that plagues our nation.

A new partial agreement on the third topic under discussion, "Solution to the problem of illicit drugs," has just been manufactured at the peace talks in Havana, shortening distances to the goal of peace in Colombia.

This morning, Pablo Catatumbo, spokesman of the FARC Peace Delegation in Havana, Cuba, announced the third unilateral ceasefire, this time a joint ceasefire by FARC-EP and ELN, the other guerrilla force in Colombia.
The FARC-EP and the ELN have repeatedly stressed the need to convene a bilateral ceasefire, to channel the peace talks towards an effective and early reconciliation among Colombians.
