I just returned from Colombia with a delegation of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU). We travelled to Cali, Quibd? (in the Choco Department) and Bogota to hear from numerous representatives of the Afro-Colombian community about the grave civil, human and labor rights situation confronting them, and their demand to have a say in the ongoing peace talks in Havana, Cuba in order to find redress for their concerns. This morning, head of the Peace Delegation Iv?n M?rquez read a declaration with some reflections about the Special Jurisdiction for Peace. According to the spokesman, the agreement has been welcomed by several organizations and prominent personalities like the UN, the E.U., Luigi Ferrajoli (respected Italian jurist), the USA, Celac, Unasur, the International Criminal Court and many others.

We now have a special jurisdiction for peace that, besides ensuring respect for the rights of victims, will be a dynamic factor in the signing of new agreements in this crucial final stretch to reach the end of the conflict.

In the General Agreement for the Termination of the conflict and the Construction of a stable and lasting peace, signed by the government and the FARC-EP on August 26, 2012, it is stated specifically that "Respect for human rights in every corner of the national territory is a State purpose that should be promoted".
