Consequently, after the development of several initiatives, today, at the Dialogue Table, we are discussing a proposed Roadmap, which in our view summarizes the most important points of view of the government and the FARC-EP and describes clear and definitive commitments to resolve pending issues, establishing specific moments for each one. In this regard, a route is being planned that includes purposes, requirements and a time schedule within the year 2016, for ending the war, as a powerful symbol of the will and determination of the parties to soon reach the desired peace.
Although the desire expressed during the historical events of September 23, 2015 - to achieve the purpose of the signing of the Final Agreement today - was not possible because the logical demands of a long and complex war Colombia has suffered determined so, our commitment to expedite the cessation of armed confrontation has led us to participate decisively in the construction of the mentioned Roadmap, which we aspire will be agreed in the next round of talks. Likewise, we think that we are delineating the most conducive way to make progress in the solution to crucial issues such as amnesty, bilateral ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, the process of abandonment of weapons, the implementation of actions to ensure, with maximum participation of the people, legal security and effective implementation of all commitments; that is, we act in the idea of actually building a good agreement, to make 2016 the year of peace, the year of the end of the war in Colombia.
This unwavering desire for reconciliation of the FARC-EP, which has contributed together with the work of the counterpart to significant progress at the Dialogue Table, has generated great international support. We want to highlight the decision of the Security Council of the United Nations, dated January 23, 2016, to join the Colombian peace process by establishing a political mission that will actively participate in the process. On the other hand, we express our recognition to the willingness shown by the United States Secretary of State, to listen with respect to a revolutionary organization that for over half a century has been raised in arms against the imposition of injustice and inequality. His reasonable reactions expressed a spirit of contributing to seek peace and normalization of Colombian life.
To contribute to the cause of peace for Colombia and the normalization of relations with Cuba, we believe are significant steps on the path to make Latin America and the Caribbean a Zone of Peace. To integrate us into political dialogue, also through the most popular sport on the greatest of the Antillian islands, besides producing us joy, shows that undoubtedly the confidence in peace has been receiving new impetus during this historic week in Havana.
In a very special way, we want to express our gratitude for the role played by the guarantor countries Cuba and Norway and the accompanying countries, Venezuela and Chile, in favor of peace in Colombia; likewise, on this date we highlight the support the peace process has received from the US government, showing interest in Colombia's reconciliation.
Our commitment and hope for peace are increasing.
